Eel Grass
Eel Grass is a multifaceted and salt-tolerant plant found in shallow ocean waters that not only acts as a powerful carbon sink, but also produces edible, high-protein seeds resembling rice.
A growing issue is that eel grass meadows are in steep decline due to warming ocean temperatures and other environmental factors.
Our focus is to use coastal corn and soybean fields that have been abandoned due to saltwater intrusion to build the first eel grass farms in the U.S., where the plant and its seeds can be researched and harvested for both food production and habitat restoration.
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Math and Literacy
Children's understanding of letters and numbers on their first day of kindergarten strongly correlates to future academic success, yet many children do not have formal exposure to math and literacy curriculum until kindergarten begins.
Our focus is to build an early childhood math and literacy curriculum that balances the efficiency of technology with the importance of hands-on learning and teacher interaction, while also being efficient to deploy into pre-schools, daycares and homes.
